Courier documentation
How to install Courier, send a notice, choose who receives it, back it up and put things right when something goes wrong. The same pages are in the Courier wiki.
- Accounts and Sign-in
Courier has its own accounts. - Active Directory groups
Courier can address a notice to the people in the Active Directory groups you already keep, such as a year group, without typing a hundred names. - Agent Settings
Agent Settings, under Configuration in the left-hand menu, is for administrators. - Audiences
On New notice, Send to has two choices, and they are kept deliberately separate: Computers and People. - Backup and Restore
Everything Courier keeps is in one folder, apart from the program files, so an upgrade or an uninstall does not remove it. - Firewall and Network
Courier is self-hosted: it runs on a Windows Server on your own network, and the RSJ Agents on your computers reach it there. - Formatting a notice
A notice can have bold or italic words, a heading, bullet or numbered lists and a highlighted line, in a text size and font you choose. - Getting Started
This guide walks through installing Courier, enrolling your first computer and sending a first notice. - Priority notices and All clear
A Priority notice is for something that must be seen soon. - Sender limits
Courier has two kinds of account. Administrators can send to any computers or people and are never limited. - Sending a notice
Everything about writing a notice, previewing it, sending it and following what happens next. - Support bundle
If you ask for help, a support bundle gives us what we need to see without you copying lines from a log by hand. - Templates
A template is wording you send again and again: a fire drill reminder, a room change, a note that the shared drive is down. - Troubleshooting
Common problems and what to check. If something here does not cover it, ask in RSJ Software's shared Discussions, or report a problem as an Issue. - Updates
Courier does not update itself unless you ask it to. This page covers how to move to a newer version, and what the Updates tab in Settings does.
